Over 22,000 applicants have been invited to study in Lithuania's universities and colleges, including about 14,000 in slots financed by the state or on scholarships.

The biggest number of state-financed slots have been provided in the Vilnius University (2,662), the Kaunas University of Technology (1,610) and the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (1,306), the Lithuanian Association of Universities for general enrollment said on Monday.

In colleges, the highest number of state-financed slots was offered by the Vilnius College (1,944), the Kaunas College (1,487) and the Vilnius College of Technology and Design (593).

This year, 32,846 persons applied for universities and colleges in the general admission system (33,598 in 2016), including applications and graduation diploma data provided by 28,068 persons (29,000 in 2016).
