The powder sent to the Vilnius office of DELFI news portal did not contain any hazardous bacteria and the editorial office has been allowed to resume operations, Asta Razmienė of the Vilnius Public Health Centre said Friday morning.

"Molecular analysis revealed no extremely hazardous bacteria. We will notify the persons working at DELFI editorial office, the executives and the police that they may go back to work," Razmienė told BNS.

In her words, the alert about the suspicious powder has been lifted and the threatening letter with the powder will now be sent for a quality analysis to identify the powder and the sender.

The office of DELFI, Lithuania's biggest online news outlet, was evacuated on Thursday after it received a suspicious letter containing threats and some powder. The Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau has launched an investigation into the incident.

DELFI editor-in-chief Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė told BNS that the letter, written in Russian, contained threats, saying that "it will happen just like in Paris".
