The number of students given scholarships to study in state-funded education institutions in Lithuania rose to 14,922 this year, up from 14,855 last year.

Meanwhile, 18,654 have been invited to study in non-state-funded institutions, the Association of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions LAMA BPO reported Friday.

Welcoming 2,444 scholarship recipients, Vilnius University will host the largest number of state-funded freshmen.
