The organization has secured a permit from Vilnius City authorities for an event of 1,000 people. The pride march will take place on 18 June, Saturday, along Gediminas Avenue. It will be followed by a rally and a concert in the Bernardine Gardens.
Vladimir Simonko, chairman of the LGL, says that, unlike in previous years, the city administration and the police have been very cooperative: "In 2013, we had some problems, but we escaped them this year, so now we have plenty of time to prepare for the festival we want to give as a present to the city. I believe such a tradition should continue in the future."
Baltic Pride is an annual event organized by LGBT organizations in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and hosted in Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn on a rotating basis.
Baltic Pride was held in Vilnius in 2010 and 2013.
