Meanwhile opponents of Faina Kukliansky, chair of the Community, will hold a protest outside its headquarters.

A Vilnius court ruled last December that Kukliansky had been unlawfully re-elected the Community's chair as the number of votes given to the Jewish Community of Vilnius were unfoundedly restricted on the eve of the vote.

The ruling was later appealed, and also several other judicial proceedings are taking place simultaneously, including an appeal against the election of Simonas Gurevičius, Kukliansky's critic, as chair of the Jewish Community of Vilnius.

Currently, around 3,000 Jews live in Lithuania, the 2011 census figures show.

The Jewish Community of Lithuania with other Jewish organizations operates through the Good Will Foundation funds allocated by the State of Lithuania to compensate for the properties of Jewish religious communities, nationalized by totalitarian regimes.

Lithuanian has committed to pay out over 37 million euros over a decade since 2011.
