Lithuania is in for a hot day on Saturday with a risk of hail and squalls in places, the country's Hydrometeorological Service said.

Saturday's forecast calls for variable cloudiness at night, with showers and thunderstorms possible in places. Nighttime lows will reach 15-20C in much of the country.

It will remain partly cloudy during the day, with thunder showers expected across the country. There is a chance of hail and squalls in places, with winds gusting to 15-20 meters per second. Temperatures will climb up to 26-31C in much of the country, but it will be somewhat cooler in western districts, at 20-25C.

Sunday will bring more rain and much cooler temperatures, with nighttime lows at 12-17C and daytime highs at 18-19C.

The cool and rainy weather will continue into the start of next week.
