Preparations for the opening of the office took almost two years and involved bringing in 90 boxes of books from the home of Leonidas and Jolanta Donskis.

The books will be arranged by themes and a large collection of the New York Review of Books magazine, which was highly valued by the professor himself, will be available.

Visitors will also find, among other items, all the books written by Donskis in Lithuanian and English and their translations into nearly 20 languages -- from Korean to Dutch.

Donskis, a prominent thinker, philosopher, scientist, TV host and member of the European Parliament, died of a heart attack at Vilnius Airport in 2016.

During his academic career, he worked at Lithuanian, US, UK, Swedish, Finnish, Estonian and Hungarian universities, and wrote more than 40 monographs and over 500 articles.
