Igoris Molotkovas, the guy who sparked a massive manhunt operation in Vilnius in November after escaping police with a Kalashnikov, was the most googled person in Lithuania last year. Google search results also show that Lithuanians were interested in solar eclipses, basketball and Snapchat.

Google published the top search results from 72 countries on Thursday, showing what topics, people and Youtube videos were most googled in countries around the world, including Lithuania.

Top search results in Lithuania reveal that Lithuanians were interested in international news: the terrorist attacks in Paris, war in Syria, and childcare in Norway. In domestic news, the most popular searches included basketball, military conscription and the introduction of the euro.

Snapchat and the new treetop walk in the resort town of Druskininkai were among the top non-news searches in Lithuania.

"The annual Google search results give a clear image of Lithuania and the world, they give an idea what was important, what excited and interested people in Lithuania," said Regimantas Urbanas, Google marketing head for the Baltics.

"I am very happy that [Lithuanian singer] Monika Linkytė tops the list of most popular music video searches on Youtube, her song 'Po Dangum' outdid the biggest international music stars."
