Martial arts film star Jean-Claude Van Damme will give a lesson to 20 young karate students in Lithuania this week. The students will be selected by the Lithuanian Kyokushin Karate Federation.

"When we asked him what he would like to do in Lithuania, the actor did not hesitate and asked for a meeting with children who are learning karate. He has repeatedly stressed that in the first place he is a martial artist, not a superstar," said organizers of the conference Forum One.

The Belgian-born Hollywood actor is coming to Lithuania to help raise funds for the charity organisation Operation Smile. The funds are to be used for reconstructive surgeries on children born with facial defects.

The major European conference aims to raise USD 240,000, enough to cover 1,000 surgeries for children of Operation Smile. Forum One will be held on 23-25 October in Vilnius, hoping to attract 4,000 business professionals from Central and Eastern Europe.
