Online shopping allows you to save time, but sometimes the received goods may not meet your expectations at all. In this case, as with the purchase in physical stores, they can be returned. How does it work?

"Every citizen of the European Union (EU) has the right to return purchased goods within 14 days for any reason and without any explanation. It is advisable to learn about the conditions and ways of returning goods applicable in an e-shop before buying. One of the most convenient ways to return goods is through a courier company", Gabrielius Bilevičius, Sales & Marketing Director, Baltics at DPD Lietuva says.

So how do you return goods?

Inform the e-shop. You can do this by filling out an electronic return request or by submitting a duly completed modal withdrawal form. This form can be found on the website of the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority in the section "Legal information / Legal acts".

Package the goods properly. Pack the item you want to return with documents confirming purchase. The packaging may be the same as the one in which the product was delivered or another, protecting the contents of the shipment from possible damage during transportation.

Return using the courier service. Upon receipt of the return request, the e-shop orders a pickup service and the courier company prepares a shipment label. The courier arrives to collect the shipment you are returning to the place convenient for you (home or office) on the next business day after the order is placed.

Return through a shipment terminal or shipment point. Return of goods through a shipment terminal can be done at any time of the day, also at weekends, while using the services of the shipment point – during its working hours. Upon receipt of the return request, the e-shop gives the buyer a label for the return shipment: sends the label by e-mail, if requested, or the label is sent along with the product. After sticking the shipment label received from the e-shop on the packaged shipment, take it to the shipment point or terminal in Lithuania most convenient to you.

Conditions for returning goods outside the European Union may vary. When purchasing goods from foreign e-shops outside of the EU, it is important to pay attention to their terms of return. Non-EU e-shops may have other terms of return, different return periods. After finding out the number of days, during which an item can be returned, one should also assess how soon the returned item will reach its seller – you can learn about this on the website of the shipment company.
