Lithuanian citizens adopted 99 children last year and foreigners adopted 62, figures from the State Child Rights Protection and Adoption Service show.

In 2015, 89 spouses and 3 single women adopted children in Lithuania. The majority – 21 children – were adopted by Italian citizens, followed by Swedes (16 children) and Canadians (10). There were also adoptive parents from Spain, Ireland and the United States.

547 children are currently awaiting adoption in Lithuania.
