Churches were allowed to resume public Masses in late April, but remained closed on Sundays.

The bishops decided on Thursday to allow the resumption of the public celebration of the Sunday Mass starting May 10.

They asked clergy and the faithful to continue following coronavirus safety guidelines.

According to the statement, christening and wedding services may also be performed as long as social distancing is observed.

The bishops suspended all public church services after the government introduced a nationwide coronavirus lockdown on March 16.
