Citizens of Lithuania adopted 44 children over nearly seven months of this year, the Ministry of Welfare and Labour Ministry said.

Most applicants for adoption include people or families over the age of 30 (the age average is 37 for women and 34 for men).

Mostn applicants come from the cities and districts of Vilnius, as well as the city of Klaipėda, accounting for more than half of all those wishing to adopt a child.

As of 1 June, 464 children were available for adoption in Lithuania.
