Lithuania experienced its highest average temperature on record last year with climatologists pointing to global warming induced by climate change as the cause.

Last year, the average air temperature in the country was 2.1 degrees higher than the average in the period 1961-1990, at 8.3 degree celsius.
The previous record was in 2008, when the average annual air temperature hit 8.2 degrees celsius.

Official data shows a consistent warming trend in Lithuania’s climate over the last decade.

Higher temperatures are being observed globally and are already affecting yields from Lithuania’s agriculture industry.
