Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a brief conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry before the ministerial meeting of the East Asia Summit (EAS) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

The two diplomats exchanged a couple of words and shook hands.

The Russian and the US delegations are seated side by side at the summit's session.

Lavrov and Kerry have already met twice this week to discuss the Syrian and Ukrainian settlement.
