David Kankiya of the nongovernmental election watchdog Golos, was detained for five days, Virginija Budienė, director of the Vilnius Political Analysis Institute, confirmed to BNS.

On Thursday evening, the institute is hosting a discussion on the situation in Russia after the re-election of Vladimir Putin for the fourth presidential term.

Refusal to obey police officers was cited as the official reason for the Golos activist's detention. The organization criticized violations in the Russian presidential election.
