International observers, including delegates from Lithuania, report that as the pre-term parliamentary elections in Ukraine are over, major election rules violations were successfully prevented.

"The people of Ukraine have been fighting for their freedom of self-determination for long months. I hope that the results of these elections will reflect the free will of people and the newly elected Supreme Rada will turn the country to the path of peace and necessary reforms," said Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius.

The prime minister said that he believes that Europe, Ukraine's neighbours and the international community will respect and support in every way possible the democratic choice of Ukraine.
