Lithuania's Parliamentary Speaker Loreta Graužinienė says that sanctions taken against Russia in the wake of its incursions into Ukraine have not yielded any results and it is therefore vital to search for other diplomatic ways of influencing the situation.

"As we see, the sanctions have not had any effect. They have only made the situation worse and it is worsening in Ukraine with every day along with the global tensions – this shows that the sanctions are not working," Graužinienė told the Žinių Radijas radio on Wednesday morning.

In her words, "other diplomatic ways are necessary, as military action is the last resort".
