In her words, the people of Ukraine are celebrating their Independence Day by demonstrating the rest of the world that they are a freedom-loving country willing to fight for it, the President's Office said in a press release.

"Lithuania sincerely supports your determination to defend your country and reinforce its independence. The spirit of freedom and freedom our people share has grown even stronger over the past year. I am convinced that the close relations between citizens of both countries, fully-fledged cooperation and good-willed support will contribute to our countries growing stronger," Grybauskaitė said in her congratulatory message.

The Lithuanian president wished Poroshenko and the Ukrainian nation strength, peace and prosperity.
