The January poll by the Ukrainian public opinion research group Rating shows that 51 percent of Ukrainian residents in all of the country's regions have a positive attitude towards Grybauskaitė, with only Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel having higher ratings - of 63 and 58 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has the lowest rating. Only 10 percent of Ukrainian people have a positive attitude towards him while 80 percent have a negative one.

Attitudes to foreign leaders differ in Ukrainian regions as Merkel, Grybauskaitė, US President Barack Obama, Polish President Andrzej Duda and French President Francois Hollande are mostly favored in the western and central regions of Ukraine. Meanwhile, Putin and Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev are favored in southern and eastern regions of the country.

The survey of 2,000 adult residents of Ukraine was carried out on Jan. 14-22.
