Beginning in mid-May, Vilnius Airport will reinstate passenger services. The first flights will commence on May 13th and will be performed to Riga and Frankfurt.

“We believe that now is the appropriate time to gradually ease travel restrictions, and we have established a clear strategy for which we are intensively preparing. Our strategy is based on the newest health safety recommendations, situation of the virus in every destination country, and plans established by the air carriers. In this stage, Frankfurt is a very important destination and hub airport from which airlines offer many connecting flights to Europe and beyond”, - states Aurimas Stikliūnas, the Head of Aviation Services at Lithuanian Airports.

Flights from Vilnius to Frankfurt will be performed three times per week – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Air carrier Lufthansa will perform these flights beginning from May 13th.

On the same day, airBaltic will reinstate daily flights to Riga.

According to estimates, more airlines will restart flights on the second half of May, but final decisions by air carriers are yet to be made. Lithuanian Airports continue to prepare for the return of passenger flights as new safety measures are being planned for the country’s three airports.
