Lithuania's draft budget for 2016 allows for conservative optimism, says Loreta Graužinienė, speaker of the Seimas. According to the parliament's leader, there is no risk that budget spending would exceed income in 2016 more than projected.

On Tuesday, the European Commission (EC) said that Lithuania was at risk of failing to comply with the structural government sector's balance rate and suggested taking relevant measures to avoid it. However, Graužinienė believes there is no such risk.

"The share of budgetary income that we project is rather conservative and, based on forecasts, we expect revenue collection to be considerably bigger. At the moment, the draft budget forecasts conservative optimism. If the economic situation remains unchanged and revenue collection grows, we definitely do not see any threats," she said on Wednesday to the radio Žinių Radijas.
