From 8 through 25 December, the Lithuanian Customs will tighten control of fuel transported in vehicle fuel tanks from third countries. Inspections will take place at the border posts, at the border with Latvia and Poland, as well as inside the country.

Throughout the period, mobile groups of Customs officers will be patrolling and checking whether fuel carried in fuel tanks of vehicles meets the amount indicated in declarations.

If discrepancies are found, violations will be recorded and taxes calculated.

The Lithuanian Customs reminds that duty-free fuel imported from third countries may only be used by the vehicle that it entered Lithuania in. Fuel must not be emptied from fuel tanks for sale, use in other vehicles or storage.
