Owners of detached and semi-detached houses with solar power plants of up to 10kW will be eligible for such financial support. The electricity they produce will be used by households.

"One of our priorities in encouraging production of green energy is to create conditions for residents to produce electricity themselves. Therefore, we want as many of them as possible to make use of the incentives and we want to make it as simple as possible," Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaiciunas said in a statement.

Residents will get 323 euros for a 1 kW solar peer plant, 1,615 euros for 5kW and 3.230 euros for 10 kW.

Lithuania plans to invest over 16 million euros of EU funds into that by 2023 and invitations to submit applications will be announced four times during the period. If applications exceed 4.5 million euros this year, more money would be allocated.
