"We are now getting ready for the official opening of Lidl Lietuva logistics centre in Kaunas District. Another important event we are preparing for is the opening of our first stores," Lidl Lietuva spokeswoman Agnė Dalia Gaižauskienė told BNS. "We are planning the launch before the middle of the year by opening over 10 supermarkets across the country and go on with expansion."

She would not specify where the Lidl stores will open and when exactly.

A €38-million logistics centre was constructed near Kaunas last year.

BNS reports that Lidl is planning to open some 30 outlets in at least 13 towns across Lithuania.
