Exceptional focus on IT information security analysts
Global forecasts show that IT professionals will remain in-demand in the nearest future and longer period. However, a rapid technological development prompts unavoidable changes in the IT sector—some of its fields become more prospective than other fields.
The U.S. Department of Labour forecasts that until 2026, the demand will increase for information security analysts (28 per cent), software developers (24 per cent), ICT researchers (19 per cent), website developers (13 per cent), database administrators (11 per cent), system support specialists (10 per cent) and computer system architects (9 per cent).
However, according to experts, a demand for professionals will also depend on technological breakthroughs that will prompt changes in the market in the nearest future. Currently, the artificial intelligence systems, virtual reality and similar fields of research and practical application have the highest prospects in IT sector.
Constant demand for experienced professionals
Head of Human Resources Julija Kairelienė of the "Forbis" company, developing software for different financial institutions and providing other IT services, says that the demand for IT professionals remains high—the market needs professionals in their field.
"At the moment we are noticing the lack of different profile programmers and IT analysts, but we have also observed that a lot of young people choose IT sector and associate their future with it. I think that the lack of professionals in IT market could be eliminated by investments into the increase of competence of existing employees rather than the increase in the number of professionals because experienced employees are capable of creating more effective solutions, their efficiency is greater. Thus, despite the fact that young people often sparkle with enthusiasm and desire to work, the market needs experienced professionals more," said Kairelienė.
However, the staff expert highlighted that only those IT professionals who are ready to constantly learn and improve themselves have really good prospects.
"IT sector is always changing very fast, and therefore those who think that, having learned the basics of a specific programming language, they can no longer worry about their career, are wrong. The motivation to move forward is as important a quality for the IT specialist as specific knowledge and competencies", believes Kairelienė.
Lithuania at the top of IT map
Since these tendencies are global and employees have more freedom for movement than ever, one may wonder whether employers in Lithuania are capable of competing for the best IT professionals in the global market? IT professionals believe that they are.
"What concerns the personal development and career prospects, the conditions in Lithuania are very good. For this reason, many do not wish to leave behind their friends, familiar surroundings for a higher pay elsewhere. I had considered working abroad at the beginning of my career, but today I am fully satisfied with my life and work in Lithuania," says Gediminas Radikas who has worked as an IT architect in the "Forbis" company for over a decade.
According to Radikas, since his current employer works with IT services for the financial sector, very high quality security and data protection standards are applied to the solutions developed here. This, according to the professional, creates satisfactory conditions to improve as the professional in the field.
The IT professional distinguishes one advantage of the Lithuanian IT sector. According to Radikas, it is not very difficult to keep pace with innovations because it is easier to introduce changes in Lithuania than, for example, in USA, United Kingdom or other countries where processes are slower due to the size of the market. Moreover, according to the professional, the software used in Lithuania is one of the best ones in the global market.
The "Forbis" company, developing software for different financial institutions and banks, is successfully working and expanding its activities to European and Asian countries.
The main product of the company is an IT system of financial service companies FORPOST which is used by the biggest banks of Lithuania and other countries, payment service providers, FinTech companies, credit unions and other financial institutions. This software connects complex processes into one cohesive system and guarantees high-quality financial services to customers: account management, payment services, credits, payment cards, trade financing, electronic banking and many other financial services, products and activities.
