The limited-access issue was discussed behind closed doors, therefore, no official information has been provided by ministers or the government's press service. The proposed tax reform should be presented to the public on June 2.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis recently said that the government had been determined to propose the tax reform by June 1, however, refused to give further comment. The Finance Ministry has also refused to elaborate on the proposals.

The ministry has pledged to review all tax reforms, including the value-added tax, and apply integrated measures that should help reduce taxes for people with the lowest income, propose one-year tax "vacation" for new businesses. The ministry also said that no new taxes would be discussed in the government until the existing tax system is in order.

The government reportedly plans to revise excise tax tariffs and volumes this year in light of their impact on public finances, the country's economy and collection of the tax.
