The first flight will take off from Vilnius at 6 p.m. on Friday and the return flight from Palanga will land in the Lithuanian capital on Sunday afternoon.
Flights will be arranged by Kidy Tour, a tourism company, and Avion Express, an aircraft operator.
The restoration of flights between Palanga and Vilnius had been driven, among other things, by the coronavirus crisis, Avia Solutions Group spokeswoman Vilma Vaitiekunaite said.
“We should thank the pandemic, the termination of contracts and the closure of borders for the reopening of this route as we do not have many routes to fly outside the Baltic countries,” she told BNS.
Flights will be operated during the summer season by Airbuses with the seating capacity of 180 or 220 seats.
The first flight to Palanga would be nearly full, Vaitiekunaite said.
According to the data made available by Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports), the Lithuanian airports’ operator, the route between Vilnius and Palanga was last served by now bankrupt air carrier FlyLAL back in 2006.
