During the first month of this year, there was considerable growth of aircraft movements in airports of Kaunas, Palanga and Šiauliai. According to Lithuanian ANSP SE Oro navigacija, the numbers of flights handled in Kaunas, Šiauliai and Palanga made up, respectively: 774 (increase by 17.1 per cent, compared to last year’s January), 313 (increase by 15.6 per cent) and 289 (increase by 10.7 per cent), Oro navigacija announced in a press release.
The number of flights handled in Vilnius airport made up 3.5 thousand. Compared to the same period last year, it increased by 1.8 per cent, and accounted for 71.8 per cent of the total number of flights handled in the four international Lithuanian airports.
This January, just like last year’s, the major five air companies – users of the Lithuanian airspace – were the same: the Russian Aeroflot (1.9 thousand flights, increase by 10.7 per cent, compared to January 2018), the Latvian Air Baltic (1.8 thousand, increase by 10.5 per cent), the Finnish Finnair (1.4 thousand flights, 13 per cent decrease), the German Lufthansa (1.2 thousand flights, increase by 0.6 per cent), and the Irish Ryanair (1.2 thousand, increase by 12.2 per cent).
