Some 908,200 persons were paid at least one type of pension in Lithuania at the end of 2016, which is one in three residents of Lithuania, the country's statistics agency said in its preliminary report.

Over 2016, the number of those receiving pensions went down by 5,900 (0.6 pct), said Statistics Lithuania.

Spending on pensions last year increased by 78 million euros (3 pct) from 2015 to 2.6 billion euros.
