"We have stated clearly that, unfortunately, due to the current status of implementation of Minsk agreements, we need extension of sanctions against Russia. That is, there are no more obstacles for such extension,” she said.

Merkel added that she and her French counterpart Francois Hollande discussed the implementation of Minsk deal at the EU summit in Brussels yesterday.

The German leader emphasised that she saw no obstacles to prolonging the measures against the Kremlin.
