Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis says that Lithuania had no chance of attracting the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Banking Authority (EBA), which will relocate from London after the United Kingdom leaves the European Union.

"You can participate in any process, but you need to evaluate your capabilities. As to our country, there is a basic but important factor. We could only offer flights to Vilnius via Warsaw or via Riga as we don't have a normal air connection, which is very important for such agencies," he said on LRT Radio.

Skvernelis added that Lithuania could not provide the agencies with suitable offices and proper education for the children of their staff.

It was decided on Monday that Amsterdam would be the new post-Brexit home for the EMA and Paris would host the EBA.
