The Baltic states expect continued support from the United States to the development of the regional air defense system, which is currently one of the weakest spots of the Baltic states in terms of defense.

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia also seek to ensure faster decision-making processes in the Alliance, as well as specific measures to prevent possible military isolation and constant updates of contingency plans with assigned military capacities.

Cyber threats will also be high on the agenda of the meeting in the Estonian capital.

The meeting with the US vice-president will also discuss energy cooperation and consolidation of energy security, response to the threats posed by the Astravyets nuclear utility under construction in Belarus close to Lithuania's border.

This will be the second four-country meeting in this format. In February, Pence met with the three Baltic presidents in Munich.

Tallinn will also host a working meeting of the three Baltic leaders on implementation of regional strategic energy and transport projects, the most relevant issues of the European Union (EU) and assistance to EU's partners in the East.
