The eighth day in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro finished with a mixed feeling. Lithuania won its third medal in weightlifting while the basketball team lost its way against Spain and the Lithuanian discus thrower came last in the finals.

Two medals in rowing events finally put Lithuania on the medal winner's table. In swimming, a new national record has been claimed twice, while in sailing Lithuanian athletes are continuing to fight for a place in the medal race. The basketball team secured its place in the top 16 with a victory over Argentina.
Day four at Rio Olympics was a good one for team Lithuania. In basketball, Lithuania secured its second victory in a row, Lithuanian rowers advanced to the finals while the sailors are fighting for the tickets to the medal race.
