Parliament to pass new 'social model' with updated Labour Code by July

Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius said that an agreement has been reached with the leaders of all of the Seimas' parliamentary groups on the adoption of a so-called new social model, a package of laws including a new Labour Code, by July.
The Lithuanian government and parliament groups have agreed to set up an unemployment fund. The money would be used to pay benefits to people who lose jobs after working at least three years for the same employer.
The Lithuanian parliament will hold three plenary sittings a week in May and June instead of the usual two in an effort to adopt all the legislation in the s-called new social model package by the end of the spring session.
