Hydroelectric power plants prevent electricity price hike in Lithuania

In the first week of January the average electricity price in Nord Pool Spot power market Lithuanian trading zone went up and reached EUR 43.45 per megawatt hour, electricity transmission system operator Litgrid announced.
The construction of high voltage interconnections LitPol Link and NordBalt to connect Lithuania with Poland and Sweden is moving ahead: two thirds of NordBalt and half of LitPol Link works have been completed since last spring. LitPol Link and NordBalt will be put into operation after twelve months, at the end of 2015, Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid said in a statement.
