Lithuanian start-up Semseye makes breakthrough with Google partnership

Lithuanian start-up Sems Technology which develops solutions that allow retailers to track and analyse customer behaviour and flows in their stores has become one of a small number of Google-approved beacon manufacturers.
Researchers at Kaunas University Technology have developed a type of ultra-high performance concrete they say is eight times stronger than the standard concrete. The innovative Lithuanian material will allow architects and engineers considerably more options when designing compact structures requiring great strength.
Over the last two decades, there has been a lot of talk that Lithuania should focus on developing high-tech industry and create a new Silicon Valley in the country, but economists believe that this talk is totally at odds with reality on the ground.
Lithuanian start-up SailRacer.net has attracted major interest from the sailing market with an innovative, battery-saving and comparatively inexpensive smart sail racing device that feeds data from a boat’s sensors to mobile devices to improve performance.
