Lithuanian parliament allocates additional 130 million for national defence

The Seimas of Lithuania adopted budget amendments which allow to increase spending on national defence by LTL 130 million (EUR 37.6 million). 100 MPs voted in favour of the proposal, none voted against and 2 abstained.
In the coming 5 years Saab Bofors Dynamics AB company of Sweden will be providing munitions for Carl-Gustav grenade launchers of the Baltic States' armed forces, the Ministry of National Defence informs.
Over 1.3 billion litas (EUR 0.376 billion) will be spent on defence in Lithuania in 2015, compared to 980 million litas, or 0,78 percent GDP this year, he said. But the Seimas of Lithuania plans next week to approve the allocation of additional 130 million litas for defence for this year.
