The Lithuania Tribune asked Žygimantas Pavilionis, Lithuania’s Ambassador in Washington, D.C., to share his insights about the Lithuanian community in the US. Some estimates suggest that there are some 1 million Americans of Lithuanian descent.
The proposal by UK Prime Minister Theresa May for European Union (EU) citizens present in the country should ease tensions among the Lithuanians living in great Britain, says Daiva Asanavičiūtė, the leader of the local Lithuanian community.
Some 60 percent of the Lithuanian population support the idea of allowing dual citizenship to emigrants of the new generation, while one in five is against the possibility, shows a poll conducted for BNS news agency by the market research company RAIT.
