European Union leaders failed to agree at a summit on Wednesday (July 16) on sharing out a package of top jobs in the 28-nation bloc, including a new foreign policy chief, and postponed the decision until late August.
The Lithuanian government's decision to divide the country into two separate regions to obtain more funds from the EU after 2020 may fail to bring the expected benefits, a senior European Commission official warned in an interview with BNS.
