Lithuanian officials have contacted German Chancellor Angela Merkel's office over an original copy of Lithuania's Act of Independence of 1918 that has been found in Berlin and are looking at how and when the document could be returned to Lithuania, President Dalia Grybauskaitė said on Thursday.
The Lithuanian government's decision to divide the country into two separate regions to obtain more funds from the EU after 2020 may fail to bring the expected benefits, a senior European Commission official warned in an interview with BNS.
Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė plans to attend a memorial ceremony for former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl in the eastern French city of Strasbourg on Saturday, her press office has told BNS.
