Klaipėda seaport reached an all-time record level shipping traffic last year of more than 38 million tons and this year is still holding its leadership position as traffic declines at other Baltic sea ports.
Lithuania and Ukraine have signed a preliminary memorandum on joining a new cargo train route, the so-called New Silk Road, that would transport rail container traffic directly from the Baltic directly to China.
