Finnish company ‘interested in taking over Veolia Vilnius assets’

Finnish energy company, Fortum, may be are interested in taking a major role in the Vilnius heat sector, including acquiring French company Veolia’s assets in the capital when it exits, reports Lietuvos Žinios.
The French government is closely watching the dispute concerning Veolia’s investment in Vilnius and hopes it can be resolved amicably, Harlem Desir, French Minister of State for European Affairs, has said while on a visit to Lithuania.
Vilniaus Energija, the French-owned company managing the central heating grid in the Lithuanian capital, has accused city authorities of obstructing efforts to find a contractor to appraise the infrastructure it has to hand over to the city next year. Meanwhile a city official said the move was merely an attempt to beef up its arbitration case against Lithuania.
