The Russian man was apprehended at the Panemunė checkpoint after bringing the gun and eight cartridges secretly hidden under his jacket.

The man walked to the checkpoint on foot from Kaliningrad and made a verbal declaration he was not carrying anything forbidden, however, a check revealed a case with a traumatic pistol Makarov and eight cartridges.

"Traumatic guns usually fire rubber or similar bullets," said Gediminas Kulikauskas of the Customs Criminal Service told BNS.
