Lithuanian ambassador to US calls for stronger transmitter of Radio Free Europe

The signal of the US Congress-financed Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) rebroadcast via Lithuania should be amplified in an effort to resist the Russian propaganda, and the radio should be broadcast round the clock, Lithuania's Ambassador to the United States Rolandas Kriščiūnas told US senators on Tuesday.
Lithuania needs a bigger defence budget to ensure cyber security and prepare for universal military conscription, says Vytautas Bakas, chairman of the parliament's Committee on National Security and Defence, which has recently called on political parties to commit to increasing defence spending to 2.5 percent of GDP in 2020.

Lithuania seeks that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should evaluate the safety of the site of the Astravyets nuclear power plant under construction in Belarus and its selection criteria.
