Belarus could be the next country targeted by Russia's President Vladimir Putin after Ukraine, Russian opposition figure Gary Kasparov, former world chess champion currently residing in the US, has said at a Vilnius conference.
US Congressman John Shimkus of the Republican Party has made an address to US legislators, calling to pressure Belarus to give access to international observers to the Astravyets Nuclear Power Plant under construction merely 50 km from Lithuania's capital Vilnius.
Lithuania seeks that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should evaluate the safety of the site of the Astravyets nuclear power plant under construction in Belarus and its selection criteria.
